why i love nannying for baby geniuses...

i introduced lex to cookie dough today.

it was magical.

the poor kid has been completely healthy and organic his whole life, which while is an excellent choice for his long-term health and stuff, leaves him out in the cold for things like ice cream, candy, and cookies. well, no kid of mine isn't going to not know cookies. seriously.

so i searched through the house and found enough supplies (all organic, mind you) to have a fun little project, just me and the l-e-x. he did a great job dumping the ingredients in and stirring, but when the dough was ready and i told him he had to taste it, it was amazing. first, one little pinch of dough...then realization of glory goes across his face and he shoves his face into the entire bowl. as i try to extract him from the bowl, he exhibits the strength of a chubby 12 year-old bully on the playground, pushing the chair out from under him and pulling himself to be fully embedded on the counter. i finally, with actual effort, get the dough away from him to try to appeal to his analytical side. 'let's count the cookies we can make, lex!' for a 2 year old with the reading capability of a 2nd grader, numbers and letters ALWAYS work as a destraction...unless cookie dough is involved apparently. upon creating one perfectly round cookie and placing it on the cookie sheet, i asked lex to count it--he promptly grabs the whole thing, shoves it all in his mouth and tries to say 'one'.

finally i get 15 cookies made and on the actual cookie sheet and put the sheet into the oven. lex turns on the oven light so he can see his beloved cookies. with his little face no less than an inch away from the oven door, he says, 'nikki, eat cookies now.' i say no. he then looks up at me and literally says, 'nikki, eat cookies now. please and thank you and i love you.'

sometimes it's just best to know when you're beat.

I know I can speak for my parents and say we love the fact that we got to meet this little man! Kids are such a breath of fresh air...
